SB 2352       RELATING TO COMPUTER OFFENSES.                  EDU, JDC
           Repeals  existing  law  and   adds  the  crimes  of
           computer  fraud,   taking   by  computer,  computer
           trespass, unlawful distribution, unsolicited email,
           and computer  invasion  of  privacy.   Provides for
           civil actions based on the computer crimes.

SB 2708       RELATING TO THE HIGH TECHNOLOGY 
           DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION                     EDU/ECD, WAM
           Repeals HTDC, HSDC, NELHA, Hawaii Inc., and PICHTR. 
           (Bunda, D.  Ige,  Ihara,  Inouye,  Iwase, Kawamoto,
           Sakamoto, Tanaka)

SB 2784       RELATING TO HIGH TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
                                                       EDU/ECD, WAM
           Authorizes the issuance  of special purpose revenue
           bonds and special facility revenue bonds to develop
           high technology projects.

SB 3047       RELATING TO SEX OFFENDERS                   JDC/EDU, WAM
           Authorizes   state   agencies   to   make  detailed
           information about criminal  sex offenders available
           on the Internet; appropriates an unspecified amount
           to implement.

SB 2831    RELATING TO THE HAWAII TEACHER STANDARDS BOARD    EDU
           Authorizes the  Hawaii  Teacher  Standards Board to
           grant waivers, on  a  case-by-base basis, to extend
           the employment by  one  to  two  years for teachers
           hired under credentials. (Mizuguchi(BR))

SB 2720    RELATING TO SEX OFFENDERS                HHS/EDU, JDC
           Requires   organizations   providing   services  to
           children  to  check  on  sex  offender registration
           information by telephone  access  before engaging a
           person to work with  the children, and requires the
           Department of Education to do the same. (Kanno)

SB 2383       RELATING TO UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII REGENTS        EDU, WAM
           Extends board of regent  members' term to 12 years.
           Allows members to  be  reappointed  once.  Requires
           the governor to  consult  the evaluation commission
           when appointing new  members.   Compensates members
           $25,000 a year.  (Hanabusa, BR)

SB 2397       RELATING TO UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII REGENTS        EDU, WAM
           Provides  for  selection  of  regent  members  from
           submittals by a special panel.  Establishes one 10-
           year term for regent  members.   Allows $25,000 per
           year compensation for  each  of the regent members.

SB 2573       RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII            EDU, WAM
           Changes general fund formula  for the University of
           Hawaii from a percentage of tuition revenues to 12%
           of  all  general   fund  appropriations  under  the
           executive budget acts.  (D.  Ige,  Sakamoto)

SB 2575       RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII 
           FACILITIES IMPROVEMENTS SPECIAL FUND            EDU, WAM
           Earmarks  a  portion  of  the  general  excise  tax
           revenues  for   University   of  Hawaii  facilities
           improvement.  (D. Ige, Sakamoto)

SB 2268       RELATING TO ETHICS                               EDU,JDC
           Provides that  collaborative  projects  between the
           University of Hawaii  faculty and private entities,
           the  participation   by   university  personnel  in
           private startup enterprises,  and the allocation of
           intellectual property  developed  at the university
           are not precluded under the state ethics code.  (D.

SB 2396       RELATING TO ETHICS                               EDU,JDC
           Provides that the  joint  ownership of intellectual
           property rights  between  the  University of Hawaii
           and its faculty or staff  and the sole ownership of
           intellectual property rights  by university faculty
           pursuant to a  collective  bargaining agreement are
           not conflicts of  interest  under  the state ethics
           code.  (Tam, Bunda)

SB 2962       RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII        EDU/JDC, WAM
           Requires service of process on the University to be
           made by delivering a  copy  of the complaint to the
           University  General  Counsel  or  to  an  Associate
           General  Counsel.    Requires  all  settlements and
           judgements to  be  paid  from  State  general fund.

SB 2649       RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII        EDU/JDC, WAM
           Creates procedure for  service  of process upon UH;
           establishes that settlements  in  claims against UH
           are paid  out  of  legislative  appropriations; and
           clarifies  legal  services  provided  by university
           general counsel.  (D. Ige; Sakamoto)

SB 2862       RELATING TO SCHOOL HEALTH REQUIREMENTS      EDU/HHS, WAM
           Modifies school entry health requirements to permit
           current practices in  documentation of immunization
           and TB examinations.

SB 2884       RELATING TO THERAPY SERVICES FOR 
           EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN                        HHS/EDU, WAM
           Transfers from the DOH to DOE the responsibility of
           providing   occupational   and   physical   therapy
           services in public schools.

SB 3123       RELATING TO POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION        HHS/EDU, WAM
           Establishes a transitional welfare-to-work benefits
           program for public assistance recipients.

SB 2448       RELATING TO AUTISM                          HHS/EDU, WAM
           Establishes the Hawaii  Autism Center of Excellence
           within the University of Hawaii.
